Our dog tends to start going crazy with anxiety and clinginess when he sees suitcases, but we have been very sneaky lately. We managed to smuggle all the suitcases and stuff to pack into Chat's room when Haku was outside or in another room and we made sure he never got into the room while we were packing. He was a bit suspicious, but not too much which is probably because Operation Sleep Denied was in effect over the weekend. :) After we got the suitcases packed, we stuffed them all in Chat's bathroom and then let Haku in to inspect the room to allay any suspicions. Hopefully we can avoid letting him see them before he goes to the dog boarding place.
Operation Sleep Denied was put in effect in retaliation for several nights last week where Haku decided suddenly that he was going to be a partly nocturnal dog and that we should be awake with him. We systematically eliminated his usual weekend sleeping spots by keeping the closet door closed and taking the fluffy blanket off the couch. It was very amusing to see how tired he was and how he kept trying to sleep under our bed or sneak into the closet every time we opened it. Even more satisfying than revenge was that he slept through the night Saturday and Sunday. :) Yay!
On Sunday, it was exciting to know that the next time we go to our church, Chat will be with us! We're starting to see more and more "last times without Chat" which is exciting and sobering. I'm also driving around with a car seat installed in my car now. It is feeling very real.
