Leaving On A Jet Plane . . . Tomorrow!

We are leaving tomorrow! This week went by really quickly for me, but I had a lot of loose ends to tie up at work so that helped. Today is also our anniversary! It seems like the last five years have also really flown by. It seems fitting that we embark on the next phase of our married lives tomorrow. :) I am so glad we are in this together, there is no one else I would rather adopt a child with. :) Robby is going to be a great dad!

The last two Wednesdays have been bright spots during this time of nervous excitement and preparation. Last week on Wednesday, Robby's work had a little baby shower for us at his office. It was very sweet of them to do that for us and they were amazingly generous. I remembered to bring the iPad so we could all ooh and ahh over Chat's pictures. :)

Then this Wednesday, my work had a surprise shower for me. I knew they were planning something, but I wasn't sure when it would be and I never expected it to be so large! The break room was completely filled when my boss brought brought me in under a lame pretext. :) It was great to feel so much support from my co-workers and I think they must have sent the shower email to the entire building because everyone kept stopping me and asking about the adoption all week, even the cleaning staff. :) I did find out that one co-worker has a daughter adopted from India about a decade ago. He confirmed the importance of focusing on bonding and attachment and wished that they had had the same resources and training that adoptive parents get today. It was good to get confirmation of that.

Now we are going out to dinner to celebrate, finishing the little bit of packing left and going to bed early!
