We Made It To Japan!

We're in Japan and feeling a lot better after a good night's sleep! :) The flights here were pretty easy, I actually slept the entire flight from El Paso to Houston so it went by quickly. :)

This is us looking tired and excited at five in the morning in El Paso. We had a couple of hours to kill in the Houston airport so we walked around as much as possible to tire ourselves out and got Starbucks! In hindsight, the caffeine and the walking around may have been counter productive. :)

Here we are on the plane to Japan at the beginning of the trip. I conveniently forgot to take one after the flight. :) We didn't have too much trouble getting ourselves from the airport to our hotel via public transportation, the most annoying thing was all the bags we were dragging around. It will be interesting once we add a toddler to the mix. :)

After we got settled into the hotel a bit, we went to a restaurant to get okonomiyaki! The one the front desk suggested was the same one I had seen recommended online and it was really neat. They actually had us make it ourselves, which I hadn't done before.

As you can see, it is like a dinner pancake. :) It was all really yummy, but by the time I was halfway through my food I was practically falling asleep. After dinner, we walked by the Sensoji, the temple complex right by our hotel. It was very pretty all lit up at night.

We plan to see it again during the day as well. We can see the top of the pagoda from our room. We are staying at a ryokan or Japanese inn. It has traditional rooms with tatami mats and futons.

Robby was still asleep this morning. :) I had forgotten how comfortable futons are, I slept really well. Today we are headed to the Ghibli museum and then I think we are going to stop by a department store on the way home. Japanese department stores, or depaato, are epic. I will try to take a picture. :) Good morning from Japan!
