At the beach

Here's Robby:

(Note, I wrote this late yesterday)

Over the past two days, I have become so exhausted that I finally woke up this morning sick -- sore throat, headache, tired and achy. Folks, this is hard. Really hard. I've lost a few pounds, and, for me, that's not a good thing.

Even vacationers here with toddlers were giving us looks of pity.

The formula is simple: stop, sit or go indoors and Tut throws a massive tantrum, walk while carrying him outside and he is mostly calm. That means we have essentially walked while carrying him in the summer Thailand heat for two days straight. I love you Ergo.

I remember at some point during the adoption process Katie and I were asked to describe each other's top strengths and evaluate ourselves. Patience usually comes out on top for me; most people would say I'm patient to a fault. Beginning yesterday God decided to test my patience. Imagine a colicky baby in the body of a two year old or a tantrum that goes on and on and on... Sucker? No. Food? No. Milk? No. Toy? No. Sit down? No. Stand? No. Wrestle? No. Look at the animal? For a second. Watch TV? No. Play with iPad? No. Talk to the nice Thai person making baby faces? No. Scream? Yes!

Thanks Katie for being such an awesome wife!

Speaking of Katie being awesome, this Marriott resort is spectacular. It's brand new and mostly empty since it's the off season. If anybody out there is planning a second honeymoon, this is the place -- seriously. Minus a screaming two year old, it's super romantic... Katie accumulated a bunch of Marriott rewards while in D.C. for her training and had the foresight to know we would want to get out of the hotel and Bangkok for a few days after we got Tut.

There are times that he seems to snap out of his epic grouchiness. Right now, he's on the bed with Katie, happy as can be, building a fort with pillows. I love his Thai baby talk. So cute. Now, if he would just go to sleep. Not happening...

Wow..it sounds exhausting! I really hope you both can get some sleep. Tag team it! Poor Tut is not happy anywhere, it sounds like. Keep trying new things, maybe there is something that will strike his fancy. Mostly we just muddled through, searching for something to entertain our son, until it was time to go home. Things will settle down once you get home. Although that is another special kind of adjustment altogether -- jet lag. But at least you can tackle it in the comfort of your own home, which was a huge relief to us. Good luck you guys!
