family and almost family

No news on our home study yet. :( I did email the main office of our home study agency to ask for a progress update. It was mainly so they would know that we haven't heard from our social worker since our home study visit. Hopefully we will hear something this week.

So far, the wait hasn't been too bad, mostly because I've been keeping busy with things like visiting family last weekend. :) We went to my parent's home for my sister's wedding reception and also just to visit their new place. We haven't been to see them since they moved. It was great to see all of my family and to get a picture with all of us!

One of the things I got while I was home was my photo albums, including some old pictures of us as kids. :) We were cute.

It was also great to see my best friend since kindergarten. She drove over 5 hours to come see us and go to the reception. It was the closest we'd been geographically since she was in my wedding three years ago. I'm glad she was able to make it. :)

This is us in 9th grade.

And this is us last weekend. :) (I'm wearing a skirt I got while I was in Thailand.)

It is really great to have such a close, long-term friend, she's practically family. :) I'm looking forward to being in her wedding someday. :)

One of the albums I found was from my trip to Thailand. I also found this post card I bought there.

I can't wait to visit Thailand again! If only our home study would get done . . .

It will. Your home study will get done even though it feels like forever. Be prepared mentally for mistakes that have to be remedied, just because it's not unusual to have one or two (or more) once it does finally arrive. Hopefully, you'll get it VERY soon and it will all be just fine. One thing adoption is good at teaching is that God is in control and we can only do so much to effect the timing of things. Easier said than done, but try to rest in God's sovereignty. We're praying for speed and accuracy.
Great pictures. You guys were so cute--still are.
