Waiting . . .

No news on the home study report yet. Still hoping to hear this week! Or even early next week while we are visiting family in Ohio! Yay!

On another note, we have a small dog.

Haku is very cute, but apparently it takes him a while to catch on. We've been living in our house for almost two years now. Up until a month or two ago, Haku didn't realize that he could get out of the back yard, which was fine with us. :)

We have the typical (in El Paso) rock wall around our yard (if you can call a dirt patch a yard) and the typical metal gate. Since Haku is a less-than-6 pound runt of a miniature dachshund, he can get through with no problem. He somehow discovered this not long ago and began to enjoy sneaking out when we weren't looking and visiting the neighbor's yard. Don't ask me why he would want to escape from our yard and then get into another fenced in place. So we piled the trash cans outside the gate to keep him in, which wasn't very attractive.

This past weekend we fixed that. :) We got some fence posts, cut them to size, spray painted them a dark red (to match the trim of the house), screwed them together to make a wooden gate and then bolted that to the existing metal gate. Okay, so my husband did most of it, but I helped paint! :) And it kept my mind off the home study.

Haku's days of exploration are over.

This made me laugh. I'm glad he didn't get to far during his explorations!
