Progress Update

Home Study Progress
None

At least none that I know of. I emailed the home study agency last week and heard from them on Tuesday that our social worker said the draft would be done this week. They said he'd email it to us first so we could make sure all the information was correct before it was sent to the main office for approval. As of 6:45pm on Friday, I haven't heard from him. :-(

Dossier Progress
On Wednesday, I did everything I could do on the dossier at this point. :-) Once the home study is done, I don't want to have anything else to do before I can get it authenticated. I made the requisite 5 photocopies of all the dossier documents I currently have, (the agency says to make four copies of everything, but I wanted an extra backup, just in case) and went over them again to make sure they were correct and that I have everything that we are responsible for.

I also got the only document that will actually be authenticated ready to be shipped off to the Texas Secretary of State at a moment's notice. The certificate of documentation (basically a glorified, notarized cover sheet for the dossier) is the only document that has to have the authentication by the Texas Secretary of State and the seals from the Department of State and the Thai Embassy. When we were getting some documents notarized earlier, I had the genius idea to ask if the documents mentioned in the certificate have to be present for notarization. The answer was no, because the notary is only witnessing your signatures. It doesn't validate the actual contents of the document. So I wondered if it was the same for the Texas Secretary of State, and it was. :-) I was going to send it in earlier to get it done ASAP, but realized it probably wasn't best to have the certificate of documentation authenticated before the home study was even completed. :-) Might look funny. So as soon as we have a draft of the home study done, I plan to send it straight in so hopefully when we get it back by mail (since Austin is way too far away to take it in person) the home study will be done and the rest of the dossier documents will be on the way! Then I can send it directly on to D.C.!

At least that is how I hope it will happen. :-) Once it goes through D.C. and we send it to Holt, we will be on the list for a referral!

Hoping to hear something on Monday.

This is me in Thailand playing with the kids of a family we were staying with. Who knew nine years later we'd be working on adopting a child from this beautiful country?

This is me in Thailand rafting down a river. So many good memories!
