Happy Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July everyone! We have had a good day. We went to a friend's house for breakfast, Tut definitely likes chocolate chip pancakes, and then walked to their little neighborhood parade.

Tut was pretty reserved and quiet at breakfast and then at the beginning of the parade. He enjoyed watching and loved to point out all the dogs.

It was only a little parade, but they had some old vehicles and even ponies. A lot of people decorated bikes and dressed up. After the cars went by, everyone joined the parade and walked down to a nearby park.

They handed out flags and kid's sunglasses. Tut wasn't interested in the sunglasses, but he held the flag for a little while.

At the park he got brave enough to get down and even ran around a bit.

On the way back to our friend's house, we stopped to look at the fire truck. Tut loves his toy one.

After the fire truck, we went to another house for lunch. The couple who hosted are currently adopting domestically, so it was fun to talk to them about their process. They certainly put people adopting from foster care through the wringer! They have a lot more requirements than we did.

This little girl sat next to Tut, but he left soon after this picture. :)

He did very well playing with the other kids at lunch. He ate the grilled chicken and a cookie, the baked beans and mashed potatoes weren't a hit just yet.

After a long, late afternoon nap, we joined some other adoptive friends at a baseball game. Tut did very well sitting quietly and watching for about 3/4 of the game. Towards the end, he was getting a bit restless.

After the game, they had fireworks. It was the first time our friends' girls had seen fireworks and probably Tut's first time too. He got scared at first and started asking for things that would involve leaving (potty, food, etc.) Robby took him up under the overhang and he felt better. He calmed down enough that Robby sat back down with him for the end of it.

This is us after the fireworks were over. It was nearly 11 pm by the time we got to the car and close to 1 am by the time we got home because of the traffic. Tut fortunately fell asleep in the car seat. It was a fun day.

It has been nice to have a holiday this week since it was Robby's first week back to work. Tut did much better on Tuesday and Wednesday, his crying after Robby left lessened each day and he has been a very normal toddler. We are still trying to get the sleep rhythms settled. Wednesday night he woke up between 3:30a and 6:00a before falling back to sleep. It also takes him a while to fall asleep at nap time. Other than that, things are going pretty smoothly as we settle in. :)

Today I took Tut to the park for a MOPS playdate. There was only one other family there, but Tut felt more comfortable trying out the playground equipment alone anyways. He was scared of it in Thailand, but he must feel more comfortable now.

He enjoyed the little kid's slide. The bigger one was a bit too fast.

He looks way too old in this picture. We had a good day today, even though we stayed up way too late last night. :)
