Wow, it is hard to believe that before May 24th, we were starting to think that we might have to wait until September for a referral! And now September is here and we are already three months into our wait for travel!
Even though we aren't still waiting for referral, it is still exciting when referral months come because we can rejoice with the families who do see their child's face for the first time this month. :) It really does help to be able to share in the joy of milestones in other families' journeys because it makes the time go faster and you know that there is an end to your journey. You will meet all those milestones too, eventually.
It is also helpful in the hard parts of the process, because you have others who understand and who can encourage you and pray for you. We all celebrate the good news and mourn the hard times together. I am really glad to have this community in our adoption program.
As a result of this group of (mostly) adoptive moms, we were able to find a family whose son was in the same foster family as our son! It has been great to hear how wonderful this family is and to be reassured that Chat is in a good place. It also helps to be more prepared for our trip. :)
I expect September will be pretty uneventful for our adoption process, but I am hoping that some families waiting for travel before us will get First Approval soon. That should mean that we are moving up in the queue, though Holt has told us that it isn't really a strict line, but generally families get approval in order. So that is good. :)
