Airshow!

This weekend we went to the local Amigo Airshow. :) It was a lot of fun seeing all the planes, both in the air and on the ground. Robby got some really good pictures of the planes.

This is the one that crashed. Just kidding! :) It looks like it in the picture, but it did a lot of acrobatic flying, really fun to see.

This is the Warthog (A-10 Thunderbolt). Which in my mind bears a strong resemblance to the Y-wing fighters in Star Wars. :)

The Golden Knights team was also there.

It was amazing how they could land directly on an X on the runway. (See the X on the ground in the below picture)

Last, but not least, were the Blue Angels. It is amazing how they can fly in such close proximity. I wouldn't feel comfortable driving a car that close to another car, much less a jet!

It was an enjoyable day, even if we did both get too much sun. Only in El Paso can you get a sunburn near the end of October. :)

Great shots!
The parachutes they have now are so easy to steer that they haven't had an event they used to call accuracy--landing as close to a disk on the ground as possible--for many years. Bobby used to compete in accuracy, too. He was one of the top guys. We've got some cool pics of him landing with one foot on the disk.
Haven't been to an air show in a LONG time. Looks like it was fun.

That's cool that you guys enjoy the airshows. Chris actually flies F-18's. (What the blue angels fly) It's really cute, because even though he's been flying them for over a year now, he still acts like a little kid watching them from the ground. He says when you're actually flying them, you forget how cool it is because you're so focused on what you have to do.

That's cool! I guess when you are flying them you can't see yourself. :)
