February 2011
I was doing my usual blog stalking to gain more insight into the adoption process and to see all the cute baby pictures when I came across the blog of someone who seemed to be in the same position as me. :) Both young, feeling a call to adopt and leaning towards Taiwan . We started emailing back and forth and now she has become my best adoption buddy. :)
Immediately upon emailing back and forth, we discovered that they had also been in contact with AGCI in early December and had been told that they changed their age requirement to 23. So, I checked it out and indeed they had. I guess the lady I talked to had outdated information. At that time, I was disappointed because had we gotten correct information we could have already started with the program, but now it was too late and we'd have to wait until they re-opened! But looking back now, I guess that was God's way of shutting the door on that program for us. At the time though, I just knew I was disappointed.
At the end of February, once we had figured out all the age confusion with AGCI, we were put on their unofficial waiting list for when the program re-opened. At the time they thought it could be 3-6 months.
By this time, we were planning to adopt from Taiwan. I had been doing a bit more research, but mainly on other agencies that had Taiwan programs rather than on different countries.
