Nightmare

I just had a very realistic nightmare, which now I see it completely ridiculous. Wow, that was terrifying, and it was all about adoption.

To preface this, our social worker called yesterday (Monday) about a sudden need to visit us to ask some questions that Holt needs answered and he is coming today (Tuesday). We don't know exactly what this is about, hence the dream.

So, in the dream we were prepared for the social worker's visit and lived in my childhood home in Michigan (that really should have tipped me off) and we got a call. We learned that the visit was not a good one, like we'd been hoping, but that they had discovered that we had knives and they weren't listed in our home study (who doesn't have knives!?). Because of that, we were going to be censured, fined and a black mark put on our adoption record (I had no idea they could do that!). It turned out they had discovered we had knives from an obscure article two years ago where my husband had threatened a guy down the street with a knife (which never happened in real life, by the way). We were blaming each other for the omission and talking about how bad it would look that we said we had no knives in the first home study and then will have a huge list of our knives in the revised one. And then I woke up. Still feeling horrible that today's visit was not going to be a pleasant one.

Then I started remembering it was a dream, and that I don't think the home study requirements even mentioned knives! We disclosed our firearms, but in the dream I was even talking about listing kitchen knives in the report! That was quite the dream. I still have a vague terror of the researching machine that Holt apparently is in my dream world to have found an obscure article from two years ago. :)

Very odd. Hopefully I sleep better tonight after the visit. :)
