I got to spend Easter with my good friend who came up to visit for the weekend. :) We did SO MUCH walking this weekend including a mile each way from the metro station to church on Sunday. So I took the metro on Monday instead of walking to class. :)
On Saturday we walked along the Mall and went to the Botanical Gardens and the art museum. The gardens were beautiful and I got several lovely flower pictures. The art museum was also a lot of fun and we got to see the Thomas Cole voyage of life series. :) Another friend met us there and we walked all the way to the Lincoln memorial, the Mall was completely packed with people flying kites. It was pretty neat. There were some trees blooming but not really any cherry blossoms yet.
On Sunday we got up early for the Easter service at the National Cathedral. We walked quickly up an incline for about a mile and got there just on time. :) The walk was beautiful with lots of flowers blooming in people's front yards. I really enjoyed the service and the aesthetics really made it a special Easter. It was so cool to hear the church bells ringing as we got close to the church. The service was over before 10 am so after we gawked at the building a bit, we walked through part of the zoo since it was so close. :) The otters were sleeping in a pile when we saw them, I guess it was a bit early. We sat for a while watching the Red Panda, it is so cute! I got Chat a stuffed animal of it. :)
We met my friend's brother for brunch and then shortly after went to Easter dinner at someone's house. It was such a good time and I am so glad I didn't have to eat at a restaurant or alone. It was such a great weekend!
