Snow (Rain) Day in DC

On the third day of our five week long course, there was a winter storm. Apparently there was a lot of snow outside the city, but it all melted as soon as it hit the ground here in the city so it was cold but not really bad. Nonetheless, class was cancelled. I had an enjoyable time sleeping in and then exploring a couple of the Smithsonian museums in the afternoon. :)

The Freer and Sackler museums have mostly Asian and Middle Eastern art, so those were a lot of fun to explore. There wasn't much from Thailand though. I also walked through the Hirshhorn museum which is mostly modern sculpture and other modern art. I didn't spend a lot of time there, but it was interesting to see. They had some things by Ai Weiwei which was interesting since I had actually heard of him.

One thing at the Sackler museum that I thought was cool enough to take a picture of was this hanging chain of words. I guess the idea for it was based on monkeys like the barrel of monkeys game. Each word is "monkey" in a different language. I found the Thai word and took a picture of it in particular. :)

Last night was another board meeting so maybe we will hear something next week!

Wow. Five weeks is a long time away from home.

Praying for good news next week.

Can't wait to see you. Less than a week now.
