We Have A SON!!!

I was completely thinking that I wouldn't be writing this post until the end of June at the earliest and possibly not until the end of September, but God had other plans! On May 24th, I got an email from the waiting child program with a short description of a little boy they were starting the home finding process for. They wanted to give us the opportunity to request the file if we were interested before they placed him on the photo listing. We decided to request the file and after hearing the evaluations of two doctors (my dad and a doctor with an adoption clinic) we decided that we were the right family for him! We emailed our acceptance over the weekend and got the final approval from the Waiting Child Program today! I was actually driving (shhhh!) when Jessica called from the WC program today and asked a few additional questions before saying it looked like a good match. :)

He was born in September of 2010 and is 20 months old and is completely adorable! He was born at 28 weeks and has had the typical complications that preemies face. He is catching up quickly and appears to be a happy and healthy boy now! The reports say that he is a social little boy who likes to go to the store and on walks and doesn't like to be left alone. Sounds like this family of introverts may have a little extrovert. :)

I think one of the coolest things is how God has prepared him to be our son by giving us access to experience in the form of my parents. My youngest brother was also born about 3 months early and had many of the same preemie challenges as our son. They will be a great resource for us when we bring him home! :)

 Ever since we started reviewing his file, I've had the hardest time not telling people about him. :) I just wanted to plaster his pictures all over my desk at work and tell all the families behind us on the list that they can move up a slot! I think the hardest part was when friends at church or work would ask how the adoption was going and we had to reply with just "it's going well" or some variation since we hadn't made a decision at that point. But now, I can share pictures! We have several, but these are my favorites.

We haven't come to a decision on a name yet, but we have time for that. We will probably have about nine months until we can travel, so around March 2013. We have lots of stuff to do before then, so I am sure it will go quickly!
