Of Grants, Landscaping and Chairs

We have been busy lately and so I have several things to catch up on. :)

The last weekend in March was the poppy festival! Which we didn't actually go to because at the parking lot where shuttles were taking people to the festival, there was a huge line. One of the volunteers said it would probably be at least an hour before we would get on the shuttle and the line was probably the same coming back because they only had three shuttles. So, I took a picture of some poppies that were growing in the parking lot instead. :)

For Easter, we made lamp chops for the first time. :) They were so good! I think it helps me remember Passover and the reason for the celebration better, so we may have a new family tradition!

On April 12, which was also the anniversary of our application to adopt from Thailand and the beginning of Songkram, the Thai New Year, we heard that we received a grant from the JSC Foundation for our adoption! With the grant and our savings, we will be able to complete the adoption debt free. :)

One of our current projects is making our yard more than just dirt. :) Last fall we put in some grass and this month we have started working on more of the yard. We put down some rock and we plan to buy some plants next weekend.

The pile of rocks.

And finally, the chair is finished! :) I love the color, it is so bright and cheerful! And the elephant looks great in it. Eventually, when we paint the room something other than the awful, pinkish-white shade it is now, the chair will look great in the corner. :)

It is hard to believe that April is already almost gone. Next month we will celebrate both of our birthdays, say good-bye to some friends who are moving, and do more yard work. Then it is already June! Can't wait for another referral month. :)

Maybe you could plant some of the poppies that are in the parking lot in your room where the chair is! They would look great together:)

Also, who is that handsome stone pile mover under the cool hat!!

That "stone pile mover" is me the slave labor. :)

The landscaping was your idea. :)

Oh, my goodness! I didn't recognize my own son. You look so...liberal : ). You are handsome, though. Remember--work is good for you. God said we are to rest on the seventh day. That heavily implies we're to work on the other six!
Pretty chair, Katie.
