We want to spend a couple of days in Japan so I can work on my Japanese and Robby can visit for the first time! :) Since we would probably be flying through Japan anyways, it makes sense to stop for a couple of days. I figure we can get used to the huge time change in Japan just about as well as in Thailand.
Day 1, Saturday: Fly to Tokyo
Day 2, Sunday: Arrive in Tokyo (due to huge time change)
Day 3, Monday: Sight see in Tokyo and visit the Studio Ghibli museum! (Definitely can't miss this!)
Day 4, Tuesday: Sight see in and around Tokyo
Day 5, Wednesday: Fly from Tokyo to Bangkok, then either fly to Chiang Mai or take a night train
Day 6, Thursday: See Chiang Mai and hopefully visit our sponsored compassion child. She lives near Chiang Mai
Day 7, Friday: See more of Chiang Mai and then take the night train back to Bangkok
Day 8, Saturday: Get settled in and familiarize ourselves with Bangkok in preparation for meeting our child the next day!
Day 9, Sunday: Meet our child and possibly meet the foster family!
Day 10, Monday: Go to the mall with our child and meet the foster family if we haven't already
Day 11, Tuesday: Get custody!
Day 12, Wednesday: Thai Adoption Board Meeting where we get official custody
Day 13, Thursday: Visa appointment at the US Consulate
Day 14, Friday: free day/visa might be ready
Day 15, Saturday: free day
Day 16, Sunday: free day
Day 17, Monday: free day/visa might be ready
Day 18, Tuesday: visa will be ready if it wasn't finished early. Possibly leave for home Tuesday evening.
Day 19, Wednesday: Flying home and/or arriving home
Days 14-17 will have to be very flexible depending on how our little one adjusts, but it would be fun to do some shopping and sigh seeing in Bangkok. Another option that we will consider is heading to a beach nearby for the weekend while we wait for the visa. Several families have done this and we may be ready for a break from the craziness of Bangkok by this time. We will have to see how it goes. :)
In other news, we got rain this week! I got a pretty cool picture of a storm moving in.
And, this section of our yard is done! It seems to be doing well, our desert willow tree that has only been in the ground for two weeks is already blooming. :)
Very pretty

Sounds like you have a very busy first week planned. Seeing Japan would be cool, as long as you're in the area and all : ).
The yard looks gorgeous. Can't believe you have so many blooms when your tree should be in shock. Very nice. Great job you two!
Hoping for a referral in less than a month.
Thanks!
