Merry Christmas everyone!
I have been wanting to post about a project I've been working on since September, but couldn't because they are Christmas presents. :) But now I can!
Behold the project that filled most of my spare time and just about every minute of every movie or TV show I've seen since September! (Yes, I can multitask)
Thailand shirts!
I made 18 of them for our immediate families (parents, siblings, siblings-in-law and ourselves). I didn't realize how big our families are until I made shirts for each of them!
They were actually pretty easy to do, it just took a while because I decided to hand sew around the edges of the applique. If you had a sewing machine, it would go really quickly.
The basic steps were:
1. Pick out a fabric (I chose a different fabric for the girls' and the guys' shirts)
2. Find shirts that go with the fabric
3. Find an outline of Thailand online and print it out to use as a stencil
4. Use Heat 'n Bond to stick the cutout of Thailand onto the shirts
5. Sew around the edges
6. Wrap as Christmas presents!
I actually enjoyed all the hand sewing. I used my variation on the herringbone stitch. I have plenty of fabric left over and I can't wait to make a tiny version of our shirts to send our child after we get a referral! And we will plan to send a picture of ourselves in our shirts along with it. Yay!
Merry Christmas!
